Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mining, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• No prior work experience required; internships in Asphalt and Paving preferred.
• Familiarity with Asphalt and Paving industry.
• Familiarity with estimating software and project management systems.
• OSHA compliance and regulations.
• Effective communicator (written and spoken).
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; good time management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, grading, and related roadway construction projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, contracts, and design drawings to identify requirements and risks.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for asphalt tonnage, striping, traffic control, and other project components.
• Analyze production rates, crew efficiencies, and equipment utilization to establish project costs.
• Support bid reviews and estimate presentations with management teams.
• Maintain estimating databases and bid tracking systems.
• Assist in developing pricing strategies based on market conditions and project complexity.
• Gain working knowledge of asphalt plant production, paving operations, and quality control processes.
