Schedule: 3 weeks on/ 2 weeks off

Base Location: ANCHORAGE, ALASKA

Traveling to: Dutch Harbor, potentially traveling to all other locations in Alaska

Job Summary

The mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities, heavy, medium, and light-duty equipment both in and out of the shop. This rotational role may include additional overtime. The fleet department manages a diverse range of equipment and machinery, providing opportunities to expand skills and stay current with technological advancements. The primary focus is on repairing and maintaining Tank Trucks, Flatbeds, Light Duty Vehicles, and Support Equipment used for petroleum transport throughout Alaska.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • MUST FOLLOW ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
  • Conduct DOT inspections
  • Maintain PM schedules and repair documentation within our system
  • Identify greasing points included in PM services for various equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair air braking systems on heavy-duty equipment
  • Possess basic equipment knowledge, including battery disconnect switches, proper powering procedures, and starting protocols
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain heavy, medium, and light-duty equipment such as tank trucks, forklifts, and loaders
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment using appropriate tools
  • Test mechanical products and equipment post-repair to ensure performance
  • Work on engines, structural, hydraulic, electrical systems, and subassemblies
  • Perform safety and productivity observations in shop, field, and vehicle environments
  • Perform duties in the shop or in the field as needed
  • Travel up to 50% to multiple locations
  • Perform brake services and inspections
  • Utilize relevant methods, procedures, tools, and equipment
  • Obtain and maintain qualification to perform brake services through training or experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Class B Commercial Operator’s License (CDL) required or to be obtained within six months
  • Current ASE Certifications, automotive, or medium/heavy truck certifications required; Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification can substitute one ASE certification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a heavy diesel mechanic or 10 years in automotive or fleet service; or completion of related trade school or college courses
