ATI is seeking a Rotational Process Control and Automation Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA to support Level II automation for the Specialty Rolled Products unit. Participants will rotate across facilities for three years, gaining exposure to operations and functions within the business unit.

The role focuses on architecture, modification, and maintenance of mission critical automation systems to improve process efficiency, quality, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electro-mechanical/Industrial Automation or similar field.
• Experience with process automation networks, security and reliability.
• SQL Server and Oracle database programming & administration.
• Familiarity with PLC interfaces, MES systems and related automation tech.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, testing and commissioning of automation systems.
• Plan projects including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Oversee workflows to ensure quality and timely delivery within budget.
• Develop and maintain SCADA systems; monitor and adjust automated processes.
• Design, program and modify HMIs; maintain system documentation.
• Participate in safety programs and capital projects as needed.
• Collaborate with shop floor personnel and internal stakeholders.

ATI is seeking to hire a Rotational Process Control and Automation Engineer in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to support Level II automation for our Specialty Rolled Products business unit.

Based in our Western Pennsylvania facilities, candidates would be involved in a three-year rotational program among the various facilities, gaining valuable exposure to the various operations and functional areas within the ATI Specialty Rolled Products Business Unit.

Reporting into the Automation Team Manager, you will have responsibility for the architecture, modification, and maintenance of mission critical computer-based automation systems that are essential to accomplishing goals related to process and quality improvement, cost reduction, equipment obsolescence/integration, security, and automation improvement.

In this role, you will be able to showcase your skills and have an ability to learn new technical skills. Technical skills that you will either use or learn includes:

• Programming using Object Oriented Programming tools (e.g., C++, C#, Java, .NET)


• Configuration, administration, maintenance, and upgrade of Windows PC & Server hardware/software.


• Web page development/maintenance/administration.


• Administration and maintenance of VMWare/HyperV-virtual machines, PC&A domains and Active Directory, Unix-based systems, DEC VMS, OS/2 systems, or DOS systems.


• Programming/administration using PowerShell, REXX, VB, Visual Studio, Delphi, and ColdFusion.


• Code management/collaboration tools (SVN).

Essential Functions

• Lead/participate in the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of new and existing computer-based automation systems


• Project planning of computer-based automation system projects, including project scheduling, resource and budget planning, commissioning planning


• Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure expected quality, timely delivery and within budget


• Develop, deploy, test and maintain SCADA system to ensure functionality and monitor systems to quickly address problems or adjust automated processes


• Design, program, install and alter/modify HMIs


• Responsible for writing, maintaining and enhancing functional requirement and system documentation


• Participation in world class safety program


• Participate in capital projects as needed


• Lead/participate in problem-solving activities; engineer and implement solutions


• Interact with internal staff and shop floor personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities


• Organize and conduct audits

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar field

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer-based automation experienceincluding process automation network infrastructures, security, firewalls, and reliability


• Experience with integrated system design, administration and maintenance in an industrial environment


• SQL Server and Oracle database programming & administration


• Familiarity with interfaces to Level I (PLC), control systems, MES systems and business systems
