Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks a Trainee-Graduate Engineer to join a 2-year rotation program across Minnesota locations, including St. Paul, Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud, and more.

Trainees gain experience in Design, Construction, Materials, Project Management, Traffic, and Water Resources, with mentorship and formal training. Selected Trainees must complete the FE exam, achieve professional registration within six years, and convert to a permanent Engineer 2.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor degree in Civil/Environmental/Geotechnical/Structural Engineering.
• GPA higher than 2.5.
• Valid driver's license (Class D).
• 3.0 GPA or higher (preferred).
• Passing score on FE or PE exam (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Complete 2 years of professional engineering experience through rotations (Construction, Design, Materials, Project Management, Traffic, or Water Resources).
• Achieve a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Complete all required rotations – Design, Construction and an outstate rotation.
• Complete 20 hours of recruitment outreach and/or public engagement service.
