Job summary

Covia is seeking a dynamic Utility Operator for the Fort Smith, AR location. The role supports the Operations team, ensuring safe and productive plant equipment operation and compliance with safety protocols. This position involves rotating shifts and is Safety Sensitive.

The successful candidate will perform a range of duties from equipment operation to safety inspections, with focus on quality, safety, and teamwork in a heavy industry setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Kiln or ball mill operations experience preferred.
• Experience in heavy industry, mineral processing, or manufacturing preferred.
• Demonstrated experience contributing within a production/operations team.
• Strong commitment to safety and risk management.
• Ability to operate computer programs as required.

Responsibilities

• Comply with MSHA CFR regulations and safety procedures.
• Operate plant equipment safely and maintain product quality.
• Perform routine inspections and report findings to supervisor.
• Move materials, offload, and load rail cars and trucks safely.
• Maintain housekeeping and assist with continuous improvement projects.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and promptly.
