The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, 7+ years in rotating equipment, and hands-on experience with predictive maintenance, RCFA, and API standards.

About the Role

Our client requires an expert Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Upington. This role is critical for the reliability and performance of essential machinery, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors. You will be responsible for the specification, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency. This hands-on position demands a deep technical understanding of dynamics, materials, and maintenance strategies for critical industrial assets operating in potentially challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Specify, select, and procure rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.) for new projects and replacements.


• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance and reliability strategies for all rotating machinery.


• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.


• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new rotating equipment.


• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operational issues related to rotating equipment.


• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations for rotating machinery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.


• Minimum of 7 years of specialized experience with rotating equipment in an industrial setting.


• In-depth knowledge of pump, compressor, and turbine design, operation, and maintenance.


• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
