Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to provide complete service solutions for rotating machinery health, protection, and monitoring systems. You will evaluate machinery condition using rotor dynamics analysis and deliver actionable recommendations to customers.

The role requires up to 70% travel, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and strong communication skills to interact with diverse teams and clients. A TWIC and passport are often needed for offshore work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and oversee placement of balance weights as needed.
  • Follow HS&E standards in all project activities.

Rotating Equipment Engineer

As a Rotating Equipment Engineer, you will be providing customers complete service solutions to address their critical rotating machinery assets, protection, and monitoring system. This will include evaluating machinery condition based on rotor dynamic analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing machinery problems based upon vibration data, operational data, and customer communications.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide supporting service.
  • Completing timely reports that identify findings and provide recommendations to the customer.
  • Building relationships with customers to provide a high-level of service delivery, becoming their trusted advisor for their rotating equipment health.
  • Calculating and overseeing placement of balance weights.
  • Applying Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures.
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering a plus)
  • Have minimum 2 years of industry experience.
  • Be available for extensive travel (up to 70%) and significant over-time (paid).
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain a passport).
  • Be eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
  • Be eligible to travel overseas and/or work on offshore platforms on occasion.

  • Demonstrated authority and assurance in dealing with people.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel.

  • Solid computer skills using MS Office software.
  • Mechanical trouble shooting skills.
  • "Hands-on approach".
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical prints.
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems.
  • Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems.
  • Knowledge of or experience with AT LEAST one or more of the following: mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotodynamic analysis, PdM data acquisition/evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment.
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and CordantTM services.
  • Basic familiarity with computer network systems.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $79,490.00 - $170,670.00. Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.

You will be eligible to participate in Company-sponsored benefit programs, including health & welfare programs and the Thrift Plan (401k). You will have a choice of coverage options that best suit your needs. Coverage options and contribution amounts are related to your benefit elections, base salary level, and specific requirements of each of these plans. You will be eligible to participate in the Baker Hughes Short-term incentive plan applicable for the above position. The actual payout for your short-term incentive award will be based on company and individual performance and is contingent upon Baker Hughes achieving pre-determined financial results.
