Job summary

Sandvik in Alachua, FL is seeking a Rotary Head Technician to assemble high-precision rotary head gearboxes for mining equipment. You will read blueprints, perform precision assembly, and ensure tight tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.

The role requires 3+ years in manufacturing, a HS diploma, and willingness to work overtime on-site. Starting pay ranges from $25 to $30 per hour with a bonus opportunity, plus benefits and 401(k).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in the U.S. on an indefinite basis without sponsorship.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, tolerances, and quality assurance practices.
• Experience with heating/freezing components to press-fit together.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Build Rotary Head gearboxes using specialized tools and equipment per engineering specs.
• Apply controlled heating and pressing techniques to install gears, bearings, and shafts.
• Apply slip and press fit tolerance knowledge for precise assembly.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and drawings for accurate assembly and troubleshooting.
• Perform inspections and measurements to verify tight tolerances and component integrity.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during assembly and testing with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to identify process improvements.
• Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment to ensure consistent performance.
• Adhere to safety standards and company policies.
