Job Description

Purpose of Position:

The Rotary Die Cutter Operator is responsible for performing manual and machine tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and operation of die-cut equipment to produce products that meet customer specifications.

Shifts and Compensation: 1st shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; 2nd shift: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM. Compensation ranges from $23 to $27 per hour, plus opportunities for daily production bonuses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Understand rotary die cutting processes and equipment.
  2. Read job tickets for setup specifications and instructions.
  3. Set up print and die-cut sections according to proper techniques.
  4. Ensure all bolts on cutting dies are secure.
  5. Inspect anilox rolls and dies before and after runs for damage or necessary repairs.
  6. Monitor box quality, including liner, warp, size, and print quality.
  7. Operate machinery efficiently at capacity and speed.
  8. Perform maintenance and minor repairs, following preventative maintenance schedules.
  9. Report needed repairs via work orders.
  10. Maintain a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.
  11. Adhere to production schedules and follow instructions accurately.
  12. Keep records of daily production and time spent on tasks.
  13. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  14. Use hand tools to remove/replace damaged products.
  15. Train workers on machine setup and operation.
  16. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  17. Coordinate with team members to maximize production efficiency.
  18. Follow all standard operating procedures, policies, and safety guidelines, including PPE policies.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience operating rotary die cutters or similar equipment, with maintenance skills.
  • Experience in the corrugated industry is required.

  • Experience with corrugated board on flatbed die cutters.
  • Knowledge of rotary die cutting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with basic math and computer software.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Flexibility, meticulousness, and autonomy.
  • Ability to use inspection tools and recognize packaging defects.
  • Knowledge of die repair and setup processes.
  • Willingness to work overtime during busy periods.

  • Effective time management skills.
Physical Demands
  • Walking, talking, hearing, and vision required most of the time; sitting about 15%.
  • Feeling required 75%; reaching and twisting about 40%.
  • Bending, pushing, pulling less than 30%. Lifting (up to 50 lbs) less than 5% of the time.
