Machine Operator

The position involves operating production equipment, including rotary die-cutters, slitters, adhesive coating machines, extruders, and Punch Press machines. It requires flexibility to switch between projects throughout shifts as priorities change.

  • Pay Range: $17.50 - $23.00 / per hour - Based on experience.
  • Shift: 2nd and 3rd shift | flex positions available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow supervisor directions and adhere to departmental procedures.
  • Operate machinery safely and comply with all Safety Policies (including LOTO, PPE, OSHA standards).
  • Read and interpret Job Travelers, blueprints, and work instructions to guide tasks and quality testing.
  • Perform material transactions and handle various materials effectively.
  • Utilize metrology devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers) for in-process quality inspections.
  • Document production data and quality results in computerized systems.
  • Maintain production standards and optimize machine performance while minimizing waste.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, including Production Assistants, Packers, and Machine Operators.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Packing products for shipment, supporting various operations, overseeing product packing.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Higher education or technical training in manufacturing preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or machine operation, preferably in the plastics industry
  • Willing to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to shift schedules common in manufacturing
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods

Skills

  • Basic math skills (addition and subtraction) and troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficient in operating computer-controlled equipment and software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
  • Familiarity with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality control tools (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight schedules and adapt to changing demands
  • Comfortable learning and operating new machinery and technologies
  • Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
