Highlights of your role

The cook prepares palatable, nutritionally sound meals consistent with department policies and procedures, and with state and federal laws and regulations that meet daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each patient or resident. The cook ensures that foods are prepared and served at the proper temperatures and times, working efficiently to provide each patient or resident with food in the amount, type, consistency, and frequency that maintains acceptable body weight, nutritional values, and quality of life. This position also prepares food for public service areas including the cafeteria, medical staff, and caterings.

• Location: Roseau
• Shift: AM or PM (5:30am‑2:00pm or 11:30am‑8:00pm)
• Schedule: 4 days a week, every other weekend
• Hours: 32 hours
• FTE: 0.8
• Weekend: every other
• Holidays: every other
• Pay Range: $18.62‑$24.21 (compensation varies by experience, education, certification, and internal equity)

What You’ll Get To Do In This Role

• Act as acting supervisor in the absence of food service supervisor and manager
• Review menus, recipes, spreads, and production sheets to determine food to prepare
• Plan cooking schedule to ensure that food will be ready at specified times
• Prepare food in correct quantities using proper techniques to preserve nutritive value and quality
• Ensure food is served safely and timely, using food thermometers to confirm 165 °F internal temperature and recording temperatures
• Serve food according to spreadsheets, patient/resident requests, and menus
• Provide support, documentation, and communication to ensure smooth operations in the Department
• Maintain work areas to meet sanitation and safety standards
• Maintain proper dress code and good personal hygiene
