Job summary

Shamin Hotels in Newport News, VA is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to uphold cleanliness standards, assign tasks, inspect rooms and public areas, and train team members to deliver guest-ready spaces.

You will schedule room cleanings, monitor supplies and equipment, enforce safety rules, and provide coaching to improve efficiency and service quality while supporting a welcoming guest experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have basic Reading, Writing, and Math skills.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Customer Service Skills required.
• Prioritization and time management skills required.
• Must have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Schedule room and cleaning assignments to ensure proper coverage.
• Inspects all assigned rooms and public areas to ensure furnishings, equipment, linens, etc. are clean and in good repair.
• Provide efficient and objective feedback to room attendants to drive efficiency and quality within the housekeeping department
• Ensure that all associates have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms including nametags and designated PPE.
• Trains associates on safety standards and enforces those standards consistently.
• Completes accident investigations and takes steps to prevent future accidents
• Performs all housekeeping duties necessary, including making beds, vacuuming, and cleaning
• Verifies and updates the status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift
• Perform opening and closing shift duties.
• Notifies maintenance department of maintenance repairs necessary
• Monitor cleanliness of hotels including parking lot and exterior entrances.
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the standards of cleanliness are met. They assign tasks, inspect work to ensure it's up to standard, and provide training on how to best handle customers' requests.
