Job summary

Shamin Hotels is seeking a part-time Housekeeper in Chester, VA to maintain guest rooms, hallways and public areas with thorough cleaning and attention to detail. The role operates day shifts from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with hourly pay and bi-weekly pay cycles.

Responsibilities include bed making, replenishing supplies, and ensuring a clean, welcoming environment for guests. Experience in hotel housekeeping and strong customer service are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Hotel housekeeping experience preferred.
• Must have basic Reading, Writing, and Math skills.
• Experience with Hotel Brand systems preferred.
• Customer Service Skills required.

Responsibilities

• Make beds.
• Replenish supplies in rooms and bathrooms.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and clean surfaces.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery, and draperies with vacuum.
• Polish metalwork and fixtures.
• Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
• Wash windows and sills.
• Empty trash and dispose waste.
• Replenish bathroom supplies.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Follow safety data sheets for chemicals.

Position Overview

The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms, hallways, furnishings, flooring and work areas. Cleaning rooms includes duties such as refilling supplies, sanitizing equipment, or making beds. The role almost always includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and other general cleaning tasks.

• Make beds.
• Replenishes supplies, such as drinking glasses and writing supplies.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
• Washes walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
• Transports trash and waste to the disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Abides by the regulations set forth by the material safety data sheets when using chemicals.
• Reports to working for scheduled shifts on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
• Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
• Takes the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
• Performs other related duties as required.
