Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a patient meal tray assistant to support hospital dining operations. You will set up the tray assembly line, assemble meals according to patient menus, and deliver trays to patient rooms with care and accuracy.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic reading/writing and math skills, and the ability to follow written instructions. On-the-job training for about a month is provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, perform basic math and follow written instructions.
• On-the-job training to learn trayline procedures and department policies.

Responsibilities

• Sets up tray assembly line for cold food, beverages and soups.
• Delivers and retrieves meal trays from patients in their rooms.
• Calculates fluids and percentage of food consumed from trays.
• Maintains a clean, orderly work area and transports carts as needed.
• May work in ware washing and other assigned department tasks.

Expected pay for this position is $17.00 - $18.89/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Sets up tray assembly line for cold food, beverages, soup station and places items on patient trays according to patient menu selections. Delivers and retrieves meal trays from patients in their hospital rooms. Calculates the amount of fluids and percentage of food the patient consumes from their meal tray. Performs a variety of other related duties including preparing basic food items, loading tray delivery carts, transporting carts to and from patient care areas working in ware washing (as necessary), maintaining work area in a clean and orderly condition, and working in other assigned areas within the department.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Other Skills/Knowledge:

• Approximately one month on the job experience necessary in order to learn trayline procedures, become familiar with trayline assembly and learn department and Medical Center policies and procedures.
