Job summary

The Dewberry Charleston is seeking an In Room Dining Server for our Room Service team in Charleston, SC. This is a full-time role within the Food & Beverage department, reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager.

Responsibilities include taking guest orders, upselling, accurate order entry, and timely delivery of beverages and meals to guest rooms while upholding The Dewberry’s upscale service standards. Evening and weekend shifts required.

Qualifications

• One year of food and beverage experience.
• Knowledge of safe food handling procedures.
• Ability to multitask and handle guest requests effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take guest orders via telephone and in person.
• Deliver beverages and food to rooms following Upscale service standards.
• Enter orders into the POS system and communicate special requests to the kitchen.
• Maintain In-Room Dining station clean and organized.
• Assist with setup, delivery, and pickup of room service trays and carts.
• Handle cash, room charges, and billing accurately.
• Address guest inquiries and resolve issues, elevating to management as needed.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Room Service -AM In Room Dining Server

DEPARTMENT:Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO:Food & Beverage Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Perform pre- and post-work shift duties.
• Take guest orders via telephone using upselling techniques to maximize profitability.
• Have complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items and their specifications, including ingredients, preparation, and garnishments.
• Suggest daily specials and menu items to the guests’ interest.
• Enter beverage and food orders through the Point-of-Sale system, notifying the kitchen of any special requests.
• Prepare the delivery tray and room service cart with proper condiments, silverware, linens, glasses, utensils, etc.; ensure order is complete prior to leaving the kitchen.
• Efficiently deliver all beverages and food to patrons in adherence to The Dewberry’s upscale service standards and food handling procedures.
• Verify the accuracy of the bill and present it to the patrons to receive a signature upon food delivery.
• Handle all cash, credit card and room charges as prescribed by The Dewberry Standards, Policies, and Procedures.
• Ensure patron satisfaction upon receiving their order and replenish items as necessary.
• Remove soiled trays from hallways or elevator landings and deliver them to the dishwashing station.
• Maintain the In-Room Dining station in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner.
• Run food to other outlets as needed.
• Provide solutions to patron complaints and elevate to management as necessary.
• Turn in daily shift receipts to the Manager on Duty.
• Follow local and state laws and The Dewberry’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to patrons.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• One year of food and beverage experience.
• Knowledge of safe food handling procedures.
• Ability to handle difficult situations and patrons.
• Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks.
• Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
• Dependable work ethic with a positive attitude.
• Must exude punctuality with regular and reliable attendance.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to fifty pounds.
