The Teen Academy program is a summer work + internship program which began in 2016 at the IHG Army Hotel in Joint Force Base San Antonio. In 2017, other IHG Army Hotels took notice, and a portfolio-wide program was born.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities include:

1. Providing teens with skills development and real experience working in a hotel.
2. Helping develop a strong work ethic while providing a rewarding summer experience.
3. Shaping strong family values by demonstrating IHG’s Winning Ways and a commitment to delivering True Hospitality, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle.
4. Building appreciation for hard-working parents and relatives who provide for the family.

The Teen Academy is designed as a 10-week program. The duration may vary depending on local school schedules and takes place during summer months when school is out. Participating teens may not work more than 40 hours per week, with core hours from 0800 to 1600.

Requirements from Participants:

1. Ages 14 to 16, subject to federal and state labor laws.
2. Willingness to learn various job duties including Houseperson, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Breakfast Attendant.
3. Must have transportation and access to the post.
4. Teen must have a family member working at the hotel; the sponsoring employee cannot have active Corrective Actions.
5. Participation involves interviews with the GM, HM, OM, and HR Manager, signing of necessary forms, and providing legal work permits or certificates of age.
