The Teen Academy program is a summer work + internship program that began in 2016 at the IHG Army Hotel in Joint Force Base San Antonio. In 2017, other IHG Army Hotels took notice, and a portfolio-wide program was launched.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

1. Provides teens with skills development and real experience working in a hotel.
2. Helps develop a strong work ethic while providing a rewarding summer experience.
3. Shapes strong family values by demonstrating IHG’s Winning Ways and a commitment to delivering True Hospitality, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle.
4. Builds appreciation for hardworking parents and relatives who provide for the family.

The Teen Academy is designed as a 10-week program, with duration varying based on local school schedules. It takes place during summer months when school is out. Participating teens may not work more than 40 hours per week, with core hours from 0800 to 1600.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Ages 14 to 16, subject to federal and state labor laws.
2. Willingness to learn various job duties including Houseperson, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Breakfast Attendant.
3. Must have transportation and access to the post.
4. Must have a family member working at the hotel; the sponsoring employee cannot have active Corrective Actions.
5. Participation involves an interview process with the GM, HM, OM, and HR Manager.
6. If hired, the teen and sponsoring employee must sign necessary forms and provide required documents, including age certificates and work permits, prior to the start of the program.
7. If the sponsoring employee is not the teen’s parent or guardian, the parent/guardian must also sign documents and provide certificates.

The hourly rate is $16.50 to $17.33, with a benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and others. Compensation details are subject to change and depend on various factors.
