Job summary

Southall is seeking a Room Attendant to uphold exceptional guest experiences through meticulous cleaning and organization of guest rooms and hotel facilities.

Training will cover cleaning techniques, guest interactions, and time management to ensure consistent, high-quality service across shifts in a hospitality-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented and committed to cleanliness
  • Able to work varied schedules including weekends
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving supplies

Responsibilities

  • Prepare rooms to hotel standards with furniture and amenities arranged for guest comfort
  • Ensure rooms are guest-ready with presentation and detail
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, mirrors, tubs, and showers
  • Restock bathroom supplies and towels
  • Wipe furniture, lamps, TVs and surfaces for a streak-free finish
  • Change bed linens and make beds with care
  • Inspect linens and towels and replace as needed
  • Vacuum carpets and mop floors to ensure cleanliness
  • Address guest requests promptly and professionally
  • Maintain friendly and respectful demeanor with guests
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns and escalate when necessary
  • Protect guest privacy and confidentiality
  • Plan work based on check-out times and guest needs
  • Use daily cleaning checklists to ensure consistency
  • Utilize cleaning equipment safely to maximize productivity
  • Follow safety protocols for cleaning supplies and hazards
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards
  • Restock and maintain room amenities such as coffee and toiletries
  • Report maintenance issues to supervisors
  • Assist with special room setups including VIP arrangements
  • Manage laundry and linen storage
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

The Room Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring an exceptional guest experience by maintaining impeccable cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail in guest rooms and hotel facilities. This position requires commitment to Southall’s high standards of quality, safety, and guest service. Room Attendants follow a structured training program to ensure proficiency in cleaning techniques, guest interactions, and time management, enabling them to consistently deliver a superior level of hospitality.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare rooms to hotel standards, including arranging furniture and amenities for guest comfort
  • Ensure rooms are guest-ready with proper presentation and attention to detail
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, mirrors, tubs, and showers
  • Restock bathroom supplies, such as toiletries, towels, and tissue
  • Wipe down furniture, lamps, TVs, and other surfaces, ensuring a streak-free finish
  • Change bed linens and make beds with precision and care
  • Inspect linens and towels for stains or damage and replace as needed
  • Vacuum carpets and rugs and mop or sweep hard floors to ensure cleanliness
  • Address guest requests promptly and professionally, such as providing extra towels or special room setup
  • Maintain a friendly and respectful demeanor when interacting with guests
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns with care and elevate issues to supervisors when necessary
  • Protect guest privacy and confidentiality during all interactions
  • Plan and organize work based on check-out times, guest needs, and cleaning schedules
  • Use daily cleaning checklists to ensure consistency and thoroughness
  • Utilize cleaning equipment (vacuums, carts, steamers) effectively and safely to maximize productivity
  • Follow hotel protocols for handling cleaning supplies and hazardous materials
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, including fire safety and emergency procedures
  • Comply with uniform and grooming standards to maintain a professional appearance
  • Restock and maintain room amenities such as coffee supplies, toiletries, and stationery
  • Report maintenance issues or lost and found items to supervisors immediately
  • Assist with special room setups, including VIP or occasion-specific decorations
  • Manage laundry and linen storage, ensuring proper organization and inventory
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by Southall Leadership
Requirements
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality roles is preferred but not required
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on guest service
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and hotel technology effectively
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Physical strength to lift and move cleaning equipment, linens, and supplies
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, and high-volume days
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
