The bartender plays a vital role on the Rooftop. You are responsible for taking orders, making beverages for guests, serving drinks, selling food, and building repeat clientele. Beyond that, you are expected to use your skills, knowledge, and personality to provide a dining experience that exceeds expectations. Responsibilities and Authorities
- Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in various situations.
- Maintain honesty and integrity.
- Report immediately any accidents or incidents that occur at work.
- Acknowledge guests with eye contact.
- Use guest names whenever possible.
- Report guest concerns to management promptly.
Specific Duties
- Acknowledge all bar guests immediately, regardless of how busy it is.
- Take food and beverage orders, use sales techniques, and make recommendations.
- Read guests' cues when suggesting items.
- Input orders correctly into the POS system.
- Have strong knowledge of house cocktails and standard recipes.
- Be knowledgeable about the wine list and answer questions.
- Quickly prepare beverages for guests and service bar.
- Open wine and champagne bottles using proper techniques.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
- Interact courteously and professionally with guests, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Proactively resolve guest complaints.
- Act with integrity and honesty, and alert management to issues.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar.
- Properly mark all bar guests for each course in advance of food delivery.
- Continuously review menu knowledge and stay updated on changes.
- Alert management to high-value guests and those requiring extra attention.
- Ensure accuracy of guest checks and process payments promptly.
- Manage your own cash bank responsibly.
- Handle cash correctly and give correct change.
- Close out cash checks at the end of your shift.
- Complete end-of-night checkout procedures.
- Notify management of relevant shift information.
- Follow responsible alcohol service practices, including carding guests under 40.
- Adhere to health department procedures and best practices behind the bar.
Requirements
- 40 hours of training in a professional bartending program.
Seasonal Period
- End date: September 15, 2025; subject to business needs.
