Summary Description

The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform skilled roofing installation, maintenance, and repair work on District properties. The position is responsible for manual labor, maintaining equipment and tools, completing work orders in a timely manner with minimal service disruption, and maintaining accurate work records. The work is performed under general supervision, with the ability to develop work methods independently.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs skilled roofing installation, maintenance, and repair work to support District facilities.
• Inspects roofs for maintenance, repair needs, and safety concerns; evaluates and recommends project methods.
• Assesses damage after inclement weather.
• Reads blueprints and drawings; assists in estimating project materials, costs, and labor.
• Prepares materials and maintains safety of stock.
• Installs roofing systems and weatherproofs areas, including flashing.
• Removes and disposes of old roofing materials.
• Cleans roofs and removes debris.
• Supervises helpers, laborers, or contractors as needed.
• Coordinates with other trades.
• Maintains trucks and equipment; performs basic repairs.
• Operates trucks, hand and power tools.
• Performs other maintenance duties as assigned.
• Follows safety and quality standards.
• Documents labor hours and materials used.
• Attends training and meetings.
• Performs additional duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience. Must be a journeyman Roofer and possess a valid Driver's License.

Degree equivalency is as follows: Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus experience; Master’s Degree = 2 years plus experience. Include experience requirements for advanced degrees as needed.
