Job summary

Nahan in Minnesota is seeking a Roll Tender-Feeder to join the Press team. This role sets up and operates auxiliary equipment on heat set and non-heat set presses, ensuring quality and efficiency in the production line.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, some related experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and good English communication. Shift is 12-hour nights, with overtime and weekend work; base pay ranges from $20 to $22 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graphic arts training preferred.
  • 1+ years related experience preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates all auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain acceptable 'splice mode' efficiently.
  • Feed paper on a sheetfed press.
  • Roll tend on all web presses.
  • Assist crew as needed in all positions.
  • Train towards Robot Technician/Pressman I and know Pressman II roles.
  • Handle hazardous waste safely according to procedures.
  • Read and understand job tickets.
  • Maintain clean area around printing machinery.
  • Perform TPM tasks to maintain equipment performance.
  • Follow Nahan lean manufacturing principles.
  • Work shifts including weekends and overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pay Band: 6-9 Wage Range: $20 - $22

Shift: 12HR Nights, 7PM-7AM Shift Differential: 12HR Nights: $2.00

Job Summary

A Roll Tender sets up and operates all auxiliary equipment. Roll Tenders assist in manual and machine tasks in make-ready, maintenance, and operation of heat set and non-heat set presses to provide a quality product.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Sets up and operates all auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain acceptable ‘splice mode’ efficiently.
  • Ability to feed paper on a sheetfed press.
  • The ability to roll tends on all web presses.
  • Assist crew as needed in all positions.
  • Train towards Robot Technician/Pressman I and have complete understanding of the Pressmen II roles.
  • Responsible for handling hazardous waste in a safe manner by following safety procedures.
  • Recognizes and knows different paper substrates and knows of viscosity and how it relates to applications of coating.
  • Read and understand job tickets.
  • Helps with paper and inventory handling.
  • Maintains a clean area around printing machinery.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Nahan Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Follow all Nahan quality and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills Abilities Required
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
  • Strong Computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency/fluent with English language, both written and verbal.
Education And Experience

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will regularly lift 70lbs or more at a time. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. Employees must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.

Occasionally while performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including paper dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The nose level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
