Job summary

Priority Waste seeks a Roll Off Truck Driver in Romulus, MI to safely operate a roll off truck and related equipment on assigned routes for large industrial customers and for residential and commercial accounts.

Role requires a valid Class A or B CDL, 1–2 years roll off experience, and a safe driving history. Candidates must pass background checks, DOT drug screen, and a physical, with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL.
• 1–2+ years experience operating a roll off truck.
• 1-year experience in solid waste industry preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check, physical and DOT drug screen.
• Safe driving record with no avoidable accidents in past five years.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre and post trip inspections of truck.
• Operates truck in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements and all laws.
• Mounts and dismounts heavy-duty truck many times daily.
• Completes assigned route daily, ensuring customer locations are clean.
• Communicates with customers as needed and notifies Route Manager of incidents.
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of service interruptions or safety hazards.
• Identifies containers needing repair or replacement and reports.
• Attends training programs and meetings as required.
• Maintains cleanliness and professional appearance of vehicle.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Roll Off Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a roll off truck and ancillary equipment on assigned route to haul solid waste/recycling debris from large, high volume industrial/construction customers, as well as residential and commercial customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs pre and post trip inspections of truck
• Operates truck in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws
• Mounts and dismounts a heavy-duty truck many times each day
• Completes assigned route daily, leaving the customers' location free of debris
• Professionally communicates with customers as needed
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any accidents, injuries, property damage, or any other incidents
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any service interruptions such as closed lots, blocked containers, safety hazards etc
• Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair/replacement
• Attends training programs, briefings, and meetings as required
• Communicates customer requests to Route Manager/Dispatch
• Immediately communicates mechanical problems to Mechanic and Supervisor
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
• Maintains professional appearance

Qualifications

The successful candidate profile includes:

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL
• 1-2+ years experience operating a roll off truck required
• 1-year experience in solid waste industry preferred
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must be able to pass criminal background check, physical and DOT drug screen
• Must have safe driving record, including no avoidable accidents in the past five years
• Must have ability to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and internal customer service
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• May be required to work in emergency situations
