Job summary

Midwest Waste Solutions in Indiana is hiring a full-time Roll-Off Driver to operate a collection truck in all weather conditions while delivering excellent customer service. You will secure containers, perform pre/post trip inspections, and ensure DOT compliance as part of daily duties.

Ideal candidates hold a Class A or B CDL, have a clean driving record, be at least 21, and proficient in English. The role requires operating manual transmission trucks and a 10-hour shift along the

We are dedicated to providing prompt, quality waste & recycling services. Our goal is for our customers to reduce their waste stream through recycling! We are looking to hire energetic, full-time job seekers for the Roll-Off Driver position who are willing to work in all weather conditions and can provide excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Secure containers by attaching hook to container; uses control levers to pull container up on the bed of the truck, secures straps and hand tarp individual containers as necessary.
  • Responsible for operating a collection truck in a safe manner.
  • Provides distinguishable different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
  • Answers questions for customers and directs them to contact Customer Service & Dispatch for additional information
  • Operates compaction and lift equipment on the vehicle.
  • Performs Daily Pre and Post Trip inspections and D.O.T. guidelines. Completes Safety Lane activity and DVIR daily in accordance with safety lane guidelines. Includes inspection under hood, check undercarriage, check fluid levels, and air tires.
  • Maintains clean truck, inspect/Clean Truck: Lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check under carriage; pump gas, check fluid levels and air tires - Uses air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill.
  • Responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Completes daily vehicle condition reports to ensure that all vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works. Requires a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices; understand Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain written records and service requirements.
  • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch, and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and be able to make legible entries on paperwork.
Experience
  • Commercial driving: 1 year
  • License/Certification:
  • Driver's License Class A or B
  • Air Brake Endorsement
Schedule

10-hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate

Chicagoland/I-80 corridor (Required)
