Job summary

ATI in Brackenridge, PA is seeking a Roll Grinder Operator for our Hot Rolling Processing Facility. The role involves heavy assembly and regrinding of mill rolls for a Hot Mill application, reading blueprints, maintaining records, and calibrating equipment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, journeyman papers or three years' verifiable experience as a Roll Grinder or Machinist, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and proficiency with metric/imperial units.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum equivalent and verifiable experience of three years working as a Roll Grinder, Machinist, or Tool & Die trades operating both manual & automated machines.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate test equipment and maintain records.
• Perform mechanical repair of roll grinding machines and equipment.
• Select, mount and install grinding wheels on various machines.
• Move rolls and assemblies with cranes and move rolls around the shop to support mill operations.
• Rough turn and finish grind rolls to exact shape, finish and tolerances.
• Check roll surface quality (roughness, hardness, diameter, shape) and interpret measurement readings.
• Read and interpret sketches and blueprints in metric and imperial units.
• Adjust, lubricate and maintain roll grinders; record final grinding information.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot roll grinders to bring them back on line.
