Job summary

Inotiv laboratory seeks a Laboratory Animal Technician to support in vivo studies with rats and mice. You will administer compounds, perform data collection, health assessments, post-operative monitoring, and disease progression scoring to ensure humane animal care and reliable study outcomes.

Candidates typically hold a B.S. in science with 1 year direct laboratory animal experience or an associate degree with 4 years of experience, or 6 years without a degree.

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in science with 1 year lab animal work experience, or an associate degree with 4 years experience, or 6 years without degree.
• Preferred experience with mice and rats, dosing, in-life samples, and necropsy collections.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain study data.

Responsibilities

• Administer doses to rats and mice via oral, IV, subcutaneous, and intraperitoneal routes.
• Collect data: weighing, health assessments, post operative monitoring, and disease scoring.
• Perform blood collections from tail vein, retro-orbital, and terminal draws.
• Process blood samples for plasma/serum via centrifugation.
• Conduct behavioral testing (e.g., gait analysis, Von Frey, Dynamic Weight Bearing).
• Assist in preparing experimental compounds and rodent surgeries.
• Maintain cleanliness and stocking of laboratory supplies.
• Record data in Windows applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Support other duties as directed by management.
