Job summary

Wood is seeking Rodbusters for a 3-month project in Freeport, TX. The team will determine reinforcing rod layouts from blueprints and wire them into place, ensuring correct spacing and secure fastening. Duties include cutting, bending, and possible welding of reinforcing bars, with strict adherence to safety rules.

Qualifications

• Has worked as a Rodbuster for at least 3 years as a journeyman.
• Experience in positioning and securing reinforcing steel per blueprints or sketches.
• Commitment to safety and project rules.

Responsibilities

• Determines number, size, shape, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
• Positions and secures steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.
• Selects and places rod in forms, spacing and fastening them together using wire and pliers.
• Cuts bars to required lengths, using hacksaw, bar cutters or acetylene torch.
• Bends steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machine.
• Reinforces concrete with wire mesh.
• May reinforce concrete with wire mesh. May weld reinforcing bar together, using arc-welding equipment.
• Ensures that all reinforcing material is in its proper position, so it receives its intended structural load.
