Job summary

Wood PLC in Ingleside, TX seeks experienced Rod Busters for a 2-month project. Schedule is 13/1 with 12-hour days. Per diem will be paid and TWIC card is required.

You will determine reinforcement rod layouts from blueprints, position and secure bars, cut and bend steel, and ensure proper spacing. Safety rules must be observed.

Must have at least 3 years as a journeyman rod buster; able to lift and transport materials; and work under Wood's safety standards. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as a journeyman rod buster.
• Ability to load, transport, and position materials safely.
• Commitment to following safety and project rules.

Responsibilities

• Determines number, size, shape, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
• Positions and secures steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.
• Selects and places rod in forms, spacing and fastening them together using wire and pliers.
• Cuts bars to required lengths, using hacksaw, bar cutters or acetylene torch.
• Bends steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machine.
• Reinforces concrete with wire mesh.
• May reinforce concrete with wire mesh.
• May weld reinforcing bar together, using arc-welding equipment.
• Ensures that all reinforcing material is in its proper position, so it receives its intended structural load.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
