Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer (Materials Engineering) to lead technical collaboration with rocket suppliers, drive new part introductions, and ensure manufacturability and process reliability across forming, cutting, and inspection steps.

The role emphasizes problem solving, supplier quality, and cross-functional leadership to enable aggressive production ramps and high-rate manufacturing for Starship components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or inspection of mechanical products in production.
• Experience with manufacturing and inspection of mechanical products in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical point of contact for assigned rocket parts and assemblies, solving supplier challenges and mitigating risk.
• Own the new product introduction of assemblies, determine manufacturing method, identify suppliers, and develop reliable ramp-to-rate processes.
• Conduct design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure early manufacturability.
• Collaborate with procurement to vet exceptional suppliers for quality and ability to meet takt times.
• Create and develop specifications to flow down quality and manufacturing requirements to the supply base.
• Scope out new forming, cutting, and inspection technologies and suppliers to improve rate/quality.
• Resolve issues at the supplier or SpaceX, drive actions to closure, and re-source when needed.
• Create and disposition issue tickets with engineering counterparts for rework or repair as needed.
