Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer (Mechanical) to drive manufacturing and quality for rocket parts and supplier interfaces. The role emphasizes NPI ownership, DFMs, and working with procurement to vet suppliers capable of aggressive takt times.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
1+ years of experience with manufacturing and/or inspection of mechanical products in production.
Willingness to travel up to 40–50% of the work week.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical point of contact for rocket parts and assemblies with suppliers.
Own NPI of new rocket assemblies, select manufacturing methods and ramp to rate.
Conduct DFMs to ensure manufacturability early in design.
Collaborate with procurement to qualify top suppliers for takt times.
Create/flow down quality and manufacturing specifications.
Identify new forming, cutting and inspection technologies to improve rate and quality.
Root-cause issues and implement corrective actions with suppliers and SpaceX.
