Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support engine test campaigns, develop work instructions, manage hardware configuration, and collaborate with design, test operations, and supply chain. The role requires hands-on hardware experience, strong problem-solving, and clear communication across teams.

The position is based in Huntsville, AL, with relocation assistance and potential travel. Regular presence in test/build environments is required; multiple shifts may be available.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years for Level I Engineer; 3+ for Level II; 5+ for Level III; 8+ Sr Level Engineer depending on role.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing (maintenance, assembly and integration, instrumentation, cleaning, leak testing, final acceptance testing, fabrication and machining).
• Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, scheduling, issue tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels of an organization.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. (per security requirements).
• Preferred: aerospace or propulsion testing experience; BOM reconciliation; manufacturing engineering in aerospace or automotive.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage work instructions and test plans for daily test operations and maintenance.
• Provide technical direction to technicians for hardware removal and replacement.
• Support test setup activities and general test/hardware assistance.
• Define and support test article maintenance, inspection, repair, and rework across campaigns.
• Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout testing.
• Ensure hardware readiness and maintain critical spares lists.
• Review non-conformances, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Research and develop improved methods, tooling, and systems for higher cadence and reliability.
• Drive tooling, safety, and quality improvements in the test process.
