Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville is seeking a senior leader to manage a rocket engine assembly team within the Operations group. You will drive process improvements, assure safety, quality, and on-time delivery for flight hardware, and partner with engineers across disciplines.

You will recruit, mentor, and schedule personnel, maintain training records, and ensure compliance with 5S, FOD, and hazardous materials handling. A strong background in aerospace hardware and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple rapidly changing priorities.
• Strong organization skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document and maintain accurate records, as well as read drawings and prints.
• Ability to use standard tools and basic fabrication equipment.
• Experience assembling and troubleshooting aerospace or military hardware.
• Familiarity with proper disposal of hazardous waste.
• Attention to detail, passion for space and for success.

Responsibilities

• Managing personnel, including recruiting, quarterly reviews, coaching and scheduling.
• Promoting teamwork and maintaining high employee morale.
• Managing resource projections to meet schedules.
• Providing status updates on hardware deliveries at daily meetings.
• Developing training and maintaining records.
• Interfacing with engineers to improve assembly procedures.
• Working with engineers to develop assembly processes and evaluate equipment, safety, and cost.
• Ensuring products meet quality standards per engineering releases.
• Maintaining stock of consumables and ensuring tools/calibration.
• Enforcing 5S and FOD controls and safety practices.
• Working safely with hazardous chemicals and high pressure.
