Young Life is seeking a Landscape Technician II at Rockbridge Alum Springs in Goshen, VA. This full-time, on-site role supports the landscape supervisor and foreman in maintaining turf, plants, irrigation, and related grounds.

A AA in horticulture is required, with three years landscape experience (or five years in landscape care and design). You will supervise two to four maintenance personnel, coordinate projects, and help implement the landscape master plan.

We recommend you read this statement before applying for any position.**Essential Duties:**## Landscape* Provide care for the turf (top dressing, fertilizing, aeration, etc.)* Provide care for the plants and shrub (pruning, planting, fertilizing and herbicide.)* Design, plant and care for flower and planting beds for spring and summer.* Work closely with the landscape foreman in scheduling fertilizing, aeration and mowing.* Develop and maintain irrigation systems.* Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for landscape and farm operations.* Provide input in the development of a landscape master plan.* Perform landscape and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.## ## Maintenance* Coordinate DIN/PM/projects, supervising the work of two – four maintenance personnel.* Act as back-up to camping superintendent.## ## Relationships* Meet weekly to plan and strategize for landscape, maintenance and projects.* The landscape supervisor will work closely with the landscape foreman in all aspects of landscape.## Working Conditions:* This position requires that the staff person be able to: lift at least fifty (50) pounds of materials waist high, operate mowers, tillers and other equipment necessary for landscaping and lawn care, stand on his/her feet for at least eight hours a day, bend, twist, carry and do other physical activities necessary to perform this job.* The majority of the job will take place out of doors, and the staff person will be exposed to heat, cold and various climate conditions as well as dirt and chemicals used in landscaping.## Education:* AA in horticulture* Three years landscape experience or five years of experience in landscape care and design## Experience Required For The Job:* Knowledge of area plants and shrubs highly desired.* Ability to oversee day-to-day maintenance functions, personnel and projects.**Notes:**Young Life is a relational ministry. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.**Job Specific Working Conditions:** The Landscape Supervisor at Rockbridge will work alongside the Landscape Superintendent, leading and managing the department. The expectation for the position is to assume responsibility over one to two areas of the landscape department after he or she has learned the full operation through the four different seasons at Rockbridge. The responsibilities of the department include but are not limited to: • Turf – mowing, aerating, fertilizing, seeding, installation • Planters and beds – annual flowers, shrubs, mulching, pruning, watering • Trees – felling, lopping, splitting • Irrigation – maintenance, scheduling, installation • Equipment – operating, maintenance, inspection • Chemicals – licensing, applying, inventory • Hardscapes – maintaining roads, sidewalks, gravel • Administration – inventory, documentation, scheduling • Camper experience – camp preparation, snow removal, wildlife management • Volunteers – training and managing interns, work week volunteers, outdoor crewsYoung Life camps facilitate leader-centered ministry in the lives of kids and provide extraordinary environments where kids can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith.
