Young Life in Rockbridge is seeking a General Program Worker to support the Camping Services team in delivering a Christ-centered, relational and professional experience for guests. You will perform guest services, housekeeping, food service, landscaping and retail tasks, handle basic maintenance, and adapt to outdoor duties in all weather.

A high school diploma and prior work experience are required; candidates should demonstrate Christ-like hospitality and the ability to work with youth

Speaking clearly from the Scriptures, camp speakers introduce kids to the person of Christ, the nature of humanity, the work of Christ on the cross, the hope of the resurrection and the opportunity for reconciliation with God. General Program Worker Summary

This position will support the operational aspects of Camping Services as well as represent Young Life and the Camping department in a Christ-centered, relational and professional manner.

Essential Duties
Guest Services
  • Assist with program needs and equipment including locating and constructing.
  • Be responsible for property tasks assigned such as firewood, lakefront, pool, special maintenance projects, tours, camp prep and shutdown.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Guest Services coordinator.
Housekeeping
  • Help turn over buildings in weekly housekeeping changeovers.
  • Uphold Young Life standards of cleanliness and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Perform Housekeeping duties including cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and any other cleaning as directed by the Housekeeping supervisor.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Housekeeping supervisor.
Food Service
  • Participate in food preparation.
  • Perform calculations to determine proportions and measurements.
  • Set tables for meals.
  • Participate in meal clean-up including but not limited to bussing tables, washing pots, operating washing station, re-stocking equipment.
  • Participate in meal service.
  • Operate within Young Life sanitation standards.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Food Service manager.
Landscaping/Maintenance
  • Empty trash bins located around property.
  • Sweep or use a backpack blower to clean porches, basketball court and more.
  • Lawn maintenance including but not limited to cutting grass, weed eating, planting, watering and more.
  • Wash camp vehicles.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Sites and Facilities superintendent.
Retail
  • Organize store and snack bar merchandise.
  • Operate Point-of-Pay system.
  • Make change.
  • Process end-of-shift store/snack bar reports.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Retail manager.
Working Conditions

Must be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. and perform other physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, pushing, squatting, kneeling, climbing and more. Will be exposed to cleaning chemicals. Job responsibilities will include outdoor work, which will mean exposure to various changes in weather (cold, heat, rain and snow). Job responsibilities may vary depending upon the critical needs of the property.

Previous work experience required. Previous or current involvement with Young Life preferred.

Job Specific Working Conditions

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is outlined below. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the United States. The anticipated hourly rate for this position can range from $13.75 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.

Rockbridge is looking to hire the following number of seasonals in each department: Food Service 2 Guest Services 2 Housekeeping 2 Landscaping 2 Retail 2 Sites & Facilities 1. All Seasonals will participate in housekeeping for all guest group turnovers 1-2 days a week. The following information will be taken a additional questionnaire for additional information on which department positions you are most interested in, this will help us to schedule interviews.
