Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking an Engineer 1-4 in Rock Mechanics for the Stillwater Mine in Nye, MT. The role focuses on ground control assessments, design input, and ensuring safety and environmental practices across operations.

The candidate will perform underground audits, contribute to design and sequence decisions, and help develop the Ground Control Management Plan, while leveraging AutoCAD, Vulcan/Deswik, and geotechnical software to support safe, efficient mining.

Qualifications

BS in Geological Engineering or equivalent required.
Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and underground mining safety practices.
Experience with ground control design, rock mechanics, and mine design software.

Responsibilities

Perform ground control assessments and provide recommendations.
Input to weekly and monthly planning processes.
Underground audits of ground quality and installed ground support.
Review and approve development and stope extraction proposals - design and sequence.
Assist in Ground Control Management Plan and SOP revisions.
Research and apply underground rock mechanics technology.
Quality control of ground support, backfill, and shotcrete.
