Job summary

Intuitive is a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care. The Wiring Harness Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the design and development of wiring harness systems for da Vinci platforms from concept through production, collaborating with Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• 1+ years of wiring harness design experience.
• Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals relevant to harness design (current, voltage drop, grounding).
• Understanding harness integration considerations (routing, strain relief, packaging).
• Experience with CAD tools and harness drawings (BOMs, wire lists).
• Experience with harness fabrication techniques (crimping, soldering).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop wiring harness assemblies with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems teams.
• Create and release harness drawings, schematics, and routing diagrams.
• Perform wire sizing, bend radius, strain relief, and packaging analyses.
• Support harness architecture definition and interface constraints.
• Design for manufacturability and cost in partnership with Manufacturing and Suppliers.
• Prototype support and vendor engagement during development.
• Hands-on prototyping and assembly of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
• Support verification and validation testing.
• Troubleshoot issues in prototype builds and drive root-cause actions.
• Contribute to design improvements using feedback and failure analysis.
