Job summary

BlueHalo in Pittsburgh is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer - User Interface to design and develop front-end and back-end UI for advanced robotic systems. You will build user-friendly, robust interfaces optimized for real-time data and commands from sensors and actuators, using Qt and DDS middleware.

Responsibilities include developing Qt-based UIs, collaborating with robotics engineers, implementing real-time communication, and ensuring cross-platform consistency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, robotics, or related field.
• QML experience highly desired.
• 3-5 years of UI development experience with Qt.
• Strong understanding of real-time systems and DDS middleware.
• Experience with front-end and back-end development for robotic or embedded platforms.
• Proficient in C++ and/or Python.
• Familiarity with software development best practices (testing, version control, documentation).
• Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year; occasional travel to VideoRay's HQ in Pottstown, PA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain user interfaces using Qt for robotic control systems.
• Collaborate with robotics engineers to ensure UI integrates with backend and middleware.
• Implement backend logic and real-time communication interfacing with DDS layers.
• Participate in architectural design to optimize UI performance with real-time data.
• Test, debug, and optimize to meet latency and performance requirements.
• Ensure UI consistency across platforms and devices with cross-functional teams.
