Job summary

Shinkei seeks a hands-on Test Engineer to support the development and validation of our robotic platform used in the commercial fishing industry. This role requires close collaboration with the test lab, cross-functional teams, and hands-on testing with live and dead fish as part of validation.

The position is 100% on-site at our El Segundo, CA facility during standard business hours, supporting rapid iteration, data-driven improvements, and ongoing system maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–3 years hands-on test, lab, robotics, manufacturing, or field service experience.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting with electromechanical and integrated systems.
• Ability to document issues, findings, and test results clearly and repeatably.
• Willingness to work in wet, cold, and physically demanding environments.
• Comfort with live and dead fish handling during testing.

Responsibilities

• Execute post-build inspections, ATPs, and QTPs on subassemblies and systems.
• Execute software release testing on physical hardware to verify performance, stability, and safety.
• Develop, maintain, and improve test stands, tools, and lab infrastructure.
• Develop and improve test plans, procedures, and automated scripts for ATP/QTP.
• Maintain and troubleshoot robots, test fixtures, and lab equipment.
• Review test data and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams.
• Maintain detailed test records for traceability and repeatability.
• Support rapid iteration and experimental development in a fast-paced R&D environment.
