Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Robotics Test Engineer to hands-on test core robotics software that orchestrates inventory and order fulfillment for Symbot platform robots. You will own design and execution of tests for mobile drive and pick-and-place capabilities.

You’ll develop simulation-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, integrate tests across subsystems, and build scalable testing frameworks to validate robot performance across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Robotics, or Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience in related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to test complex systems; experience testing robotic systems is a bonus.
  • Experience with general purpose programming environments, languages and scripting systems, data analysis packages, Linux, C++, git.
  • Experience with scripting tools Python & Bash; experience with testing automation designed in Python and PyTest is desirable.
  • A hands‑on problem solver who can clearly communicate results.
  • Familiarity with robotics, mechatronics, or embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of software quality and testing automation principles is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and conduct tests via scripting, data log parsing and analysis (grep, regex)
  • Collaborate with software developers to develop tests that verify performance of new robot capabilities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and system level debugging of hardware/software components for mobile robot platform.
  • Troubleshoot system problems in production or design by investigating issues related to product performance or production difficulties.

We are looking for a Robotics Test Engineer. They will play a hands‑on role in testing the core robotics software responsible for orchestrating inventory into the Symbotic system and order fulfillment out to customers. What We Do

We are a talented team of roboticists working on the heart of Symbotic’s automation solution – Symbot, the mobile robot. We are responsible for delivering solutions for the storage and retrieval of cases performed in a fully autonomous structure operating 1,000s of Symbots at customer sites.

What You’ll Do
  • Own design, implement and run software test for mobile robot drive and pick n’ place capabilities.

Our environment
  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $96,000.00 - $132,000.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
