Job summary

Symbotic LLC is seeking a Robotics Field Engineer to join our Mobile Robots Engineering team. This role involves providing support for mobile robots deployed at customer locations while resolving complex technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in robotics or engineering and hands-on experience with electromechanical systems.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams to enhance system reliability and efficiency, collaborating on advanced robotics and automation solutions.

What we need

We are looking for a Robotics Field Engineer to join our Mobile Robots Engineering team within our Core Engineering org. Your job will be to provide engineering support for mobile robots at customer sites.

Our work encompasses mechanical design, electrical engineering, and software integration, ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

What you’ll do
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in real‑time, utilizing expertise in mechatronics, embedded systems, and sensor integration.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams for system diagnostics and component‑level repairs.
  • Oversee the development and execution of detailed test plans, including setting milestones and defining requirements for advanced tools, instrumentation, and capital equipment necessary for robotics system validation and field performance assessments.
  • Coordinate engineering campaigns for field upgrades, focusing on hardware and software enhancements to improve robotic system reliability, autonomy, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering design teams to develop and refine system architecture, leveraging expertise in kinematics, real‑time control algorithms, and AI‑based decision‑making systems.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between stakeholders, including senior leadership, R&D teams, and external partners.
  • Provide detailed updates on system diagnostics, root cause analyses, and potential technical fixes.
  • Partner closely with internal engineering teams, including systems engineers and robotics software developers, as well as external operations and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless integration and performance optimization of deployed robotics systems.
  • Engage in cross‑functional collaboration with engineering development teams, offering data‑driven insights to inform design decisions and enhance the next generation of robotics technologies.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in robotics or an engineering field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in providing engineering services on site with complex robotic, automotive, or electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software systems to identify the root cause of issues.
  • Hands‑on experience designing complex robotic/electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with drivetrain systems, PCBAs, and other electromechanical components and systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
Our environment

Up to 20% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi‑weekly basis if needed.

Compensation

The base range for this position in the posted location is $82,000.00 - $113,300.00; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and/or other benefits.
