Job summary

Luma AI is seeking a founding Robotics Engineer to bring up off-the-shelf robot platforms, wire sensors, and run experiments that test world models in real-world settings. You’ll bridge research and hardware, keeping a fleet of robots running and debugging across drivers and integration code.

You’ll own sensor suites, data pipelines from robot to training, and develop test rigs and benchmarks to show model improvement.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 in real robot systems.
• Strong systems-integration background across hardware and software.
• Proven track record maintaining robot fleets.

Responsibilities

• Bring up and operate off-the-shelf robot platforms (humanoids, manipulators, mobile bases) for model evaluation and data collection.
• Integrate cameras, depth sensors, IMUs, and other sensors for world-model rollouts and policy evaluation.
• Own the data pipeline from robot to training: logging, synchronization, calibration, and replay.
• Build test rigs and benchmarks that show whether the model is improving over time.
• Keep the fleet running, debugging failures across hardware, drivers, and integration code.
• Translate "what the model needs" into "what the robot does."
