Job summary

Gables Search Group is seeking a hands-on Robotic Welding Manager to lead robotics programming and automation in a first-shift manufacturing operation. The role manages a technical team while developing, improving, and troubleshooting automated systems used in welding, blasting, and painting.

You will program, simulate, and validate robotic welding applications and lead projects from concept through production launch, partnering with engineering and operations to drive improvements.

Qualifications

  • Multiple years of robotics programming and manufacturing automation experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in robotic welding programming.
  • Experience supervising or leading technical staff.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, vision systems, and industrial controls.
  • Familiar with FANUC Roboguide and Lincoln WeldPro.
  • CAD experience with 2D/3D; Autodesk Inventor helpful.
  • Associate degree or higher in engineering or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Robotics Programmers and Robotic Process Technicians.
  • Manage automation projects from initial concept and programming through installation, testing, and production launch.
  • Program, simulate, and validate robotic welding applications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, reliability, and equipment uptime.
  • Troubleshoot robotics, PLCs, electrical systems, sensors, tooling, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Review engineering drawings and 3D models to support automation projects.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement lasting equipment improvements.
  • Create training materials, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and continuous improvement teams.

Job description

We are recruiting a hands-on Robotic Welding Manager to lead robotics programming and automation within a first-shift manufacturing operation. This position manages a technical team while developing, improving, and troubleshooting automated systems used in welding, blasting, and painting.

Candidates must have direct experience programming robotic welding systems in a manufacturing environment. General robotics or automation experience without robotic welding will not be sufficient.

  • Associate degree or higher in mechanical, electrical, computer engineering, or a related technical field
  • Practical problem‑solving, communication, and project leadership skills
