Job summary

Matic Robots Inc. is seeking a Robotics Reliability Engineer to own reliability across motors, mechanisms and electronics, from the drawing board to customers' homes.

Before launch you will define DFMEA, set reliability targets, and design test plans with appropriate sample sizes and durations. After launch you will analyze field data, tickets and telemetry to identify failure modes and drive improvements in testing and design across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of experience in reliability engineering.
• Experience defining reliability targets and test plans for consumer electronics.
• Knowledge of life data analysis, Weibull++ or equivalent.
• Understanding of DOE, FMEA and DFMEA, and physics of failure.
• Experience specifying test setups for reliability testing with others.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design engineers to understand physics of failure and design accelerated test methods representing real field behavior.
• Run DFMEA and set reliability targets early, design tests, sample sizes, durations, and acceleration factors.
• Collaborate with reliability design engineers to build test setups for fatigue, vibration, shock, temperature and humidity scenarios.
• Monitor field failures from tickets, returns, and telemetry, tear down units to identify failures and drive corrective actions.
• Own and track the catalog of field and potential failure modes across the fleet and push them to resolution via testing or design changes.
• Build and own analytics on motor and sensor telemetry to surface failure modes at scale.
• Perform root cause failure analysis from bench testing to field returns.
