Job summary

Foundry Robotics in Emeryville, CA, is seeking a lead for the Cell Platform team to own the product between firmware and application software, including sensors, compute, and networking on robot cells. You will define the roadmap, lead releases, and build the team, while hands-on contributing from day one.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in production fleets for AV, humanoid, AMR, or drones, with deep expertise in BSP, ROS 2, DDS, and real-time systems.

Qualifications

• Embedded Linux/BSP depth: kernel, drivers, device trees, boot, and BSP management.
• Sensor integration across driver/SDK/middleware-wrapper; GMSL2 and PoE cameras are emphasized.
• Real-time Linux kernel configuration, CPU isolation, IRQ affinity, RT scheduling for 500 Hz–1 kHz control.
• Middleware fluency: ROS 2 and DDS/RMW internals, QoS, node composition, zero-copy transport.
• Data transport architecture: shared memory, zero-copy, DMA/NVMM, networking paths; evaluate options.
• Hardware evaluation and qualification: sourcing, bring-up, and qualifying sensors/computes on robots; BOM ownership.
• Containerization and image engineering: multi-stage builds, lean runtimes, multi-container orchestration.
• Release engineering: CI/CD pipelines, artifact/registry management, versioned releases.
• Fleet/device management: OTA, provisioning at fleet scale, device observability.

Responsibilities

• Own roadmap, releases, and relationships with teams depending on the cell platform.
• Hands-on keyboard from day one while defining the roadmap and hiring the engineers.
• Lead the interface between BSP, autonomy, and hardware integration across the robot cell.
