Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to define floor interaction requirements for mobile robots deployed in fulfillment facilities. You will own mechanical design, prototyping, and validation to ensure reliable robot performance within plant environments.

The role involves collaborating with Operations, Manufacturing, and Facilities, plus vendors, to implement scalable hardware and floor interaction solutions. Strong CAD, prototyping, and documentation skills are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.
• SolidWorks CAD experience with advanced assemblies and configuration management.
• Ability to write technical documents.
• Experience evaluating design, performance and tradeoffs for hardware systems.

Responsibilities

• Defining and developing floor requirements and specifications for mobile robots to operate reliably within Amazon facilities.
• Working with interdisciplinary team to deliver sustaining engineering solutions from concept to implementation.
• Partnering with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Facilities teams and vendors to support deployed mobile drive units.
• Writing requirements, functional specs, design verification plans, and test procedures for robot-floor interaction and environments.
• Exhibiting thorough engineering analysis and cradle-to-grave ownership.
• Designing and adapting hardware and infrastructure solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver and sustain automation solutions across the network.
• Creating design of experiments and leading cross-functional validation of floor performance and robot compatibility.
