Job summary

Welocalize, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Lab Technician to own the physical side of a large-scale robot data collection operation onsite in Santa Clara, CA. You will build, maintain, and iterate data collection stations, ensuring high uptime and data quality.

The role involves hands-on mechanical/electrical work, device integration, and close collaboration with engineers and researchers. You will perform calibration, firmware tasks, and create maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on technician experience in a lab/prototyping or low-volume build environment.
• AS in a technical field, a relevant trade or technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Mechanical assembly fundamentals and ability to read CAD drawings (Onshape, SolidWorks).
• Electrical hands: soldering, crimping, harness building; use of multimeter/oscilloscope.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and bring up data collection stations including robot arms, camera rigs, and teleoperation hardware.
• Keep the fleet running with daily checks, maintenance, calibration routines, and fault diagnosis.
• Swap end-effectors, grippers, sensors, and cameras; run calibration and firmware procedures across fleet.
• Assemble prototype hardware from engineers, including harnesses and off-the-shelf parts.
• Soldering, crimping, connectorization, and PCB rework at the bench.
• Own lab physical state: spares, inventory, bench organization, and RMAs.
