Job summary

Standard Bots is seeking a Hardware Product Manager to own a 0-1 hardware area from concept to field-ready product. You will couple market insights with hands-on prototyping, engaging with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to balance cost, manufacturability, and performance.

You will iterate with real-world tests, talk to users on-site, and push for clear specifications that drive disciplined product development. A strong craft mindset and clear communicator are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in hardware product management, ideally with hands-on robotics.
• Experience taking a hardware product from 0-1 from concept to released product.
• Comfortable running iterative test-and-learn cycles with physical prototypes.
• You've built and shipped products, not just managed process.
• You think critically about customer and market problems and can break down ambiguity into structured decisions.
• You have design and engineering sense and care about craft.
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own product discovery, strategy, and delivery for a hardware product area from 0-1—from market insight to a shipped product.
• Build a sharp point of view on the market, customers, competitors, and opportunities.
• Drive iterative testing loops—prototype, test in real world, learn, revise quickly.
• Talk to users, visit sites, understand how hardware is used in the field.
• Define what we're building with clear specs and requirements for engineers.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers on cost, manufacturability, performance, and schedule trade-offs.
• Work with design and engineering to de-risk assumptions early.
