Robotics & Hardware Operations Manager

TAR; San Francisco (CA); On-site; USD 120,000 - 150,000; Full time

Job summary

TAR builds fully islanded, off-grid solar and storage campuses powering AI data centers, with a robotics test facility in San Francisco. As Operations Manager, you will own the on-site tools, equipment, and logistics to keep engineers focused on engineering rather than chasing parts.

You will coordinate contractors, manage purchasing, and ensure safety and efficiency in a hands-on role based in San Francisco, enabling rapid GW-scale construction and deployment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in an operational role (workshop, lab, facility, manufacturing or field ops).
• Proven track record owning projects end to end.
• Hands-on by default; comfortable moving equipment and fixing things.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Strong organization and clear communication with engineers and external parties.
• Bias for action in low-structure environments.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day operations of the San Francisco office and robotics facility, keeping the workshop organized, stocked, and safe so engineers can build without friction.
• Own tools and equipment end to end: purchasing, on-site availability, maintenance, and repair, so nothing on the build schedule waits on hardware.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors for facility buildout, maintenance, and specialized work, from scoping and scheduling through completion and payment.
• Unblock the technical team daily: source parts, chase deliveries, handle receiving and returns, and resolve blockers.
• Run purchasing and inbound/outbound logistics for the robotics program, including shipments between San Francisco and West Texas site.
• Set and maintain basic shop safety practices, including training, PPE, signage, and housekeeping.
• Build lightweight processes for inventory, asset, and spend tracking that keep the operation legible.
• Own operational special projects end to end, from facility improvements to new equipment installs.
