Job summary

Diligent Robotics is seeking a Fleet Engineer in Austin, TX to own the reliability of deployed robotic fleets and lead hands-on investigations into failures in the field, across the mobile base, charging/docking, motion and power, connectivity, and sensor hardware.

You’ll combine remote data analysis with bench/lab failure analysis at our Austin HQ, turning field-technician reports into clear problem statements and corrective actions driven to closure.

Qualifications

• Hands-on electrical debugging with schematics and oscilloscope.
• Hands-on mechanical debugging with fixturing and drawings; identify physical faults.
• Hypothesis-driven, quantitative debugging; frame problems and tests.
• System log analysis to reconstruct events and isolate failures.
• End-to-end versatility across subsystems; conduct investigations independently.
• 3+ years in robotics or similar electro‑mechanical systems; 5+ years senior preferred.
• Bachelor's in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Robotics; Master's a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead triage and bench/lab failure analysis across the fleet: mobile base, charging, motion, power, connectivity, and sensors.
• Diagnose failures from electrical, mechanical, firmware to system level using standard methods (5-why, fishbone, FMEA, 8D).
• Pull and analyze fleet data and logs to define problem statements and validate hypotheses.
• Turn field reports into crisp problem statements; own escalated issues (on-call) to minimize downtime.
• Drive hardware, software, operational, and process fixes with cross-functional teams; supplier actions and design feedback.
• Build fixtures, instrumentation, and bench test setups to accelerate debugging workflows.
• Document debugging procedures and root-cause findings; contribute to fleet reliability standards.
• Grow the team’s investigative rigor and mentor teammates.
