Job summary

ArcBest is seeking a Robotics Engineering Fellow to define the long-term technology roadmap for its autonomy and logistics-automation portfolio. This role acts as technical authority, shaping enterprise-wide standards, and leading multi-million dollar R&D initiatives in collaboration with senior executives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, CS or related field is required.
• PhD in Autonomous Systems/AI/Control Theory preferred.
• 15+ years of high-impact robotics engineering experience.
• Experience with commercial-scale robotic systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect the long-term autonomy, control systems, and algorithmic frameworks for the fleet and logistics automation portfolio.
• Define, manage, and govern the technical interfaces between robotic platforms for cross-compatibility.
• Serve as the compliance and risk management authority for robot design, safety, architecture, and regulatory standards.
• Cultivate and lead strategic relationships with technology vendors, universities, and suppliers to accelerate innovation.
• Meet with Executives and key clients to pitch breakthroughs and guide company strategy.
• Mentor Senior and Lead Engineers to build a high-performing culture of innovation.
• Bridge technical gaps across business functions to embed automation solutions.
• Define and manage project success metrics beyond completion.
