Job summary

Made on Mars is an art and fabrication studio pushing large-format sculpture and installation work. We are commissioning a FANUC robotic milling cell to carve EPS foam, and you will lead the path from digital model to physical object—from planning and programming to running the machine and expanding the production workflow.

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machining and CAM programming for 3D or 5-axis work.
• Experience with industrial robots or offline robot programming.
• Familiarity with Rhino/Grasshopper or robot plugins is a plus.
• Experience in digital fabrication environments or entertainment fabrication is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Commission a FANUC R-2000iA/210F robot and integrate with a HITECO spindle.
• Program toolpaths and simulate robot operations offline.
• Plan roughing/finishing strategies, tool selection, speeds, and feeds for foam.
• Set up stock, fixtures, TCPs, and calibration procedures.
• Simulate programs to catch collisions or reach limits.
• Run machine and troubleshoot, documenting results.
• Collaborate with artists and remote sculptors to ensure manufacturability.
• Assist in building cell additions like an indexing turntable and dust collection.
